Beginner Yin Yoga Course: Introduction, Guides, and Videos

Hi and a very warm welcome to the Beginner Yin Yoga Course!

On this page you’ll find all the resources you’ll need for the course, so let’s get right into it!

(There will be updates made to this post as the levels release, so make sure to bookmark the page and come back to it when the next level goes live!)

Introduction

I designed the Beginner Yin Yoga Course because this is something I know I would have appreciated so much if I had it at my disposal when I was first starting out. So instead of you having to search through many, many resources and figuring your own way through the beginner stages like I did, you actually have all that you need in one place!

And not only that, the way I designed the course will assist you in building the foundation for your practice.

So on one hand, this is an excellent place to test out Yin Yoga (especially if you have never done it before), and on the other, it will provide you with that strong foundation that will then carry your practice forward if you choose to continue with it.

It was also very important to me to offer this as a completely free resource. Oftentimes, people are hesitant to invest into something when they are just starting out and aren’t sure if this thing they are investing in is even something they’ll enjoy or keep doing. And because Yin Yoga is such a valuable practice to bring into your life, I didn’t want price to be any kind of deciding factor.

So all of this is available completely free.

All the videos are on Youtube, and the guides on this page are available for you to download and keep forever!

In that sense, I also made the course as accessible as possible: all you really need are comfortable clothes that allow some movement and a mat. If you don’t have a mat, there are very affordable options available out there because for Yin, the mat doesn’t have to be anything special or extra grippy, especially in the initial stages. Just find something that will offer you support as you lie or sit down.

Now we will be using some blocks later on in the course – but again, they aren’t necessary at the start.

For more information on this, make sure to read the Course structure & requirements section of this post.

Who this course is for

If you have never, ever done Yin before, this course is for you.

If you fear you might not have enough mobility or aren’t in shape for Yoga, this course is for you.

If you have some experience with Yin, but never developed a practice, this course is also for you.

If you have done Yin in the past, but are only just getting back into it, then you are also absolutely welcome here. You can use the structure of the course to really get yourself back on track.

Lastly, even if you are a regular Yin practitioner, you can still enjoy the classes. Every single asana in Yin has immense value – even the ones we label as beginner poses.

So come join me on the mat and let’s do some Yin!

Course structure & requirements

There are three levels to this course.

Each level consists of a week of videos, followed by a week of you repeating the sequences we have learned – either with me on video or on your own using the guidebook you can find further down on this page in each level’s section.

In Level 1 and Level 2, there are no props required. All you need is yourself and your mat.

In Level 3, we will be using blocks, so have some ready by then. This way you have an entire month to decide whether to buy some blocks – and I can assure you that by then you’ll absolutely know if Yin Yoga is something you wish to continue with.

I explain the setup, the props, the benefits of Yin, and more in the introductory video on Youtube, so make sure to check that out to get all the details!
