Honoring the natural rhythm of your life through your Rising sign

This was initially a post I published in shortened form on Facebook just because I was inspired to share the insight with the people I know, but then I realized…

The entire premise of Joy & Serenity is to gather resources for a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life.

What I’m about to share here certainly contributes to all of those areas – and you’ll soon see why.

But first, a little intro:

The Rising sign is a much loved and well-talked about topic as soon as you dip your toes into astrology. It’s part of the Big Three. It’s the side of us people tend to see really fast. It’s our human personality. It’s our image. And so much more.

What is often overlooked (or simply omitted because we put so much weight on the other aspects) is that our Ascendant is the beginning of our journey.

It is literally the sign that was on the horizon at the exact minute we were born.

And if you look at your birth chart, or any birth chart, where does it all start?

With our Rising sign.

So even following logic, if we begin our lives in our Ascendant – doesn’t it make sense for it to impact more of our cycles than simply the one that had kicked off our existence on this plane?

I don’t know about you, but if an energy carries as massive of an imprint as our freaking birth, then surely there’s a whole lot more to it.

And what I mean by this is something that I’ve been experiencing for a long time, but has only recently entered my conscious awareness – and when it did, it was like all the pieces just fell into place and so much clarity entered my mind that I just went Well, damn.

Really good stuff, so let’s get into it…

I’m a Libra rising. Libra season tends to span between September 23rd and October 22nd. Just putting the dates out there.

(Also, no one is surprised about my love for aesthetics, right?)

The new awareness that I mentioned a few paragraphs higher, is actually quite simple and straightforward at its core:

Every single year, Libra season marks the beginning of a new cycle for me.

But what does that mean, exactly?

There is something intangible that happens when Libra rolls around. A soft knock from my higher self that seeps into my consciousness and begins making small shifts, plants gentle urges that I can’t ignore. Usually when this happens, I go inward for a bit because I feel the need to pause. To hear myself. To really eliminate the outside noise and listen to what my own inner guidance is telling me.

As I settle into this energy and hold space for this state, so much begins to unfold – I reflect on what I desire and what no longer feels in alignment with me, tap into the visions and sensations of where I want to go next in life, of what I want to experience…

This is also a time when I set my goals and intentions, then truly listen to the downloads that are coming in.

All in all, Libra season kicks off a period of reevaluating, realigning, dreaming, perhaps even adding in a touch of healing along the way, and, of course, setting the foundation of my expansion.

What then?

Extending through winter and usually into early spring is what I call the “work” period.

This part of the journey basically means following inspired action and building the life I desire – all the while doing shadow work and utilizing healing modalities to clear the stuff weighing me down, as well as taking a deep dive into neuroplasticity. The later allows me to reprogram the mind with beliefs that serve me once I ferret out the ones that were acting in a hindering way, and the former clears my energetic and emotional field.

This is a time to practice embodying the version of me I desire to be, really acquaint myself with that identity, and then allow the hierarchy of change to do its thing.

Because once we decide what we want, familiarize ourselves with the identity of the person who has that life, and, most importantly, embody that person, then the entire effect trickles down – the beliefs, values, capabilities, behaviors, habits, and, ultimately, our physical reality reflects the internal change.

Pretty cool stuff, right?

(If you want to look more into this, I highly recommend you check out Robert Dilts’ Logical Levels of Change.)

Okay, so now that the “work” period is over, what then?

Well, once spring is in full swing and summer comes, that’s for sure my favorite part. I get to just enjoy myself – my desired self – to the fullest, really appreciating where I’ve come, and take pleasure in the amazing things life has to offer. I get to savor the new existence. I get to have fun. Feel the fulfillment within me every single day – that beautiful, deep-rooted satisfaction that infuses me with gratitude for being here on this plane.

I get to live a new level of my dream life through my dream self.

But that’s not the final destination.

Because as Libra rolls around once more, my higher self comes knocking.

Because we aren’t meant to be stagnant. Actually, the only way people remain stagnant is by choosing the same existence over and over again.

Fighting change is pointless. Fighting expansion is ultimately hurting ourselves.

We are meant to grow. Evolve. We are meant to be on a journey.

Honestly, this entire way of existing is such a lovely manifestation of the Law of Rhythm/Patterns (= everything in nature has rhythm & operates in seasons and cycles), as well as respecting the Law of Constant Motion (= change is always happening, and the universe is always in motion). And by embracing my personal cycle, I’m also honoring the laws instead of creating unease by attempting to violate them.

It might have taken me a while to figure out why I couldn’t carry that juicy summer energy into fall – and that was because I wasn’t meant to. So instead, I can now welcome and enjoy the gentle, beautiful thrill of a new cycle, knowing that it’s all unfolding for my highest good and allowing me to live in my purpose.

That being said, maybe take a peek at your rising sign and see if the natural rhythms you notice in your life correspond with the astrological season. Remember, your cycle might not look the same as mine, you might experience different nudges, so simply observe and notice your patterns. Your own personal rhythms.

What does your body want from you? Where is life guiding you? What does the energy feel like for you as you travel through your 1st house (Ascendant) and then move through all the other houses before concluding the journey and arriving at your Rising again? Do you notice any patterns showing up whenever your Rising sign season rolls around (both internal and external)?

And if you do find yourself resisting the natural flow, perhaps do an experiment out of it, follow that guidance instead, and see how it impacts your life 🤍
